Boys' workshop - 1903

Boys’ Workshop 1903.

The “Instructor” - as he was titled - is George Thompson.

Boys workshop from an archive snap photo taken in 1922.  This looks like the same room as the one above.

A lot  looks familiar: the clock on the wall; spoke shaves;  wooden planes - one could go on!

Boys workshop in 1954

Boys Workshop pictured in 1954. Stanley Jones can just be made out as he examined some work - top right of middle.

Was he pointing out the failings or the virtues of this particular example of craftsmanship?

Weaving in 1954

Two Craft Weaving class photographs from 1954. The top photo looks like the girls' schoolroom but where is the other photo taken? Gill Jackson has e-mailed to say this room was in the eaves between Rawdon House and the Mill building, roughly where the third bedroom in the Rawdon House conversion now is.

Vivien Flynn has e-mailed having recognised Agnes Roberts, Jean Bowren, Anthea Moss, and Ruth Harwood at the back.

If you recognise yourself - or friends - e-mail and the names
will be added to this caption.
