The School in the last century - a print familiar to most of us.

Left: the School in the last century - a print familiar to most of us.

The Teachers' Terrace is place are are the steps and Teachers' Bridge. This print must come from very early on in the School's history as will be shown in photos of the grounds at the turn of the century - lots of trees even then.

If it were not for the absence of the 1938 Teaching block one might think this was a new photo. In fact it was taken in 1902

One year later in 1903 - this scene from the girls' playground and showing a game of cricket in progress.

Cricket seemed to be very much part of girls' activities during the early years at Ayton.

This photograph was taken the same year - 1903 -  probably the same day and shows the other side of the main block plus the original but much smaller Richardson Hall.
